Winter Harvest
Before the winter snow hit, the weather was so nice, Lisa was able to get out into the garden and harvest some winter veggies. Of course, she paired her gardening overalls with a little bit of Sorrelli (specifically the Ellerie Slider Bracelet).
THE HARVEST
This winter Lisa harvested lots of veggies including Arugula, Kale, Broccoli, Endive, and Red Cabbage. One of Lisa’s favorites is her Radicchio. When it gets really cold out, the head in the middle turns a brilliant red. It’s a bitter green that’s great in salads.
Another Oswald family favorite is the Jerusalem artichokes. Lisa was able to harvest a giant basket! She suggests roasting them, then coating them in a lemon dressing - yum!
WINTER GARDEN PREP
To prepare the garden for winter, Lisa covers her planters with clear plastic sheets. She did this when temperatures started to drop in the fall. The plastic is placed over some of the plants that she wants to keep alive and frost free over the winter.
Thanks for joining us for Lisa's winter harvest! What activities are you looking forward to this winter?
