Photographer & Web Design Assistant
We are looking for a talented, eager photographer to shoot product images for our website and catalog who is also a resourceful designer for our web design department. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of the evolving trends and classic principles of web/UI/UX design, and can bring a fresh perspective to our front-end web presence, while preserving the aesthetic that is hallmark of the brand. The photographer/web design assistant will be an integral part in the visual communication of the Sorrelli brand through his/her contributions to e-mail marketing campaigns, social media initiatives, and content for our two primary websites.
Responsibilities
- Photographer-specific
- Photograph entire product lines for catalog and website using strobe lighting in a studio environment
- Manage multiple product groups, projects, data, and deadlines in a collaborative, dynamic environment
- Oversee ongoing digital asset management including downloading, renaming, backing up, converting, processing, grouping, archiving, optimizing, maintaining, and exporting product image and related files using a FTP client and incorporating workflow automation
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of files that are created and used in print publications or online content
- Review digital and printer proofs for overall printability, including accuracy, clarity, content, registration, and color
- Recommend technical and procedural updates and changes as needed
- Communicate as necessary with all departments to eliminate and prevent errors and problems
- Web Design Assistant-specific
- Design content for e-mail campaigns intended for our retail store, e-commerce, and wholesale customers based upon input from sales and marketing departments
- Design content for home pages, splash pages, and other features on our wholesale and retail websites consistent with existing design material across other distribution channels (e-mail, print marketing)
- Upload necessary design assets to our web servers and e-mail marketing application using a variety of tools
Required Experience/Skills
- Photographer-specific
- Photography coursework in a formalized educational/vocational setting
- Proficiency in the operation of a Digital SLR Camera
- Experience and knowledge using strobe lighting system
- Digital RAW image workflow skills
- Technical understanding of Adobe Creative Suite and Mac OS
- Experience color managing in print and digital mediums
- Strong visual skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management and very strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as part of a creative and diverse team in a collaborative environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
- Web Design Assistant-specific
- At least 1 year experience in visual communication intended for digital media channels (e.g., web, e-mail, social media)
- At least 1 year experience hand-coding HTML/javascript/CSS in a text editor (Notepad++, TextMate, Coda, etc.) without relying on auto-generated code
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Undergraduate degree/certificate with a concentration in photography
- Familiarity with evolving web standards (specifically HTML5 and CSS3) as well as legacy code (XHTML in particular)
- An understanding of design trends specific to fashion
- Experience developing custom content/templates using major e-mail marketing applications (e.g., Campaign Monitor)
